Sometimes I find I get to thinking of the past. We swore to each other then that our love would surely last. You kept right on loving, I went on a fast, Now I am too thin and your love is too vast. But I know from your eyes And I know from your smile That tonight will be fine, Will be fine, will be fine, will be fine For a while. I choose the rooms that I live in with care, The windows are small and the walls almost bare, There's only one bed and there's only one prayer; I listen all night for your step on the stair. But I know from your eyes And I know from your smile That tonight will be fine, Will be fine, will be fine, will be fine For a while. Oh sometimes I see her undressing for me, She's the soft naked lady love meant her to be And she's moving her body so brave and so free. If I've got to remember that's a fine memory. And I know from her eyes And I know from her smile That tonight will be fine, Will be fine, will be fine, will be fine For a while.

Crying Time 02:50
Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin' That it won't be long before it's cryin' time Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder And that tears are only rain to make love grow Well my love for you could never grow no stronger If I lived to be a hundred years old Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin’ That it won't be long before it's cryin' time Oh you say you found someone you loved better That's the way it's happened every time before And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin' That it won't be long before it's cryin' time Oh you say you found someone you loved better That's the way it's happened every time before And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door Yes cryin' time will start when you walk out the door

I'm a roaming cowboy, riding all day long Tumbleweeds around me sing their lonely song. Nights underneath a prairie moon, I ride alone and sing a tune. See them tumbling down, Pledging their love to the ground, Lonely but free I'll be found Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds. Cares of the past are behind, Nowhere to go but I'll find Just where the trail will wind, Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds. I know when night has gone that a new world's born at dawn, I'll keep rolling along, Deep in my heart is a song, Here on the range I belong, Drifting along with the tumbling tumbleweeds.

Living on the road my friend Was gonna keep you free and clean Now you wear your skin like iron Your breath's as hard as kerosene You weren't your mama's only boy But her favorite one it seems She began to cry when you said goodbye sank into your dreams Pancho was a bandit boys His horse was fast as polished steel Wore his gun outside his pants For all the honest world to feel Pancho met his match you know On the desert down in Mexico Nobody heard his dying words That's the way it goes All the federales say They could have had him any day They only let him slip away Out of kindness I suppose Lefty he can't sing the blues All night long like he used to The dust that Pancho bit down south Ended up in Lefty's mouth The day they laid poor Pancho low Lefty split for Ohio Where he got the bread to go There ain't nobody knows All the federales say They could have had him any day They only let him slip away Out of kindness I suppose The poets tell how Pancho fell Lefty's livin' in a cheap hotel The desert's quiet and Cleveland's cold So the story ends we're told Pancho needs your prayers it's true, But save a few for Lefty too He only did what he had to do Now he's growing old All the federales say They could have had him any day We only let him slip a-way Out of kindness I suppose A few gray federales say could have had him any day We only let him go so long Out of kindness I suppose

Won't you scratch my itch sweet Annie Rich And welcome me back to town Come out on your porch or I'll step into your parlor And I'll show you how it all went down Out with the truckers and the kickers and the cowboy angels And a good saloon in every single town Oh and I remembered something you once told me And I'll be damned if it did not come true Twenty thousand roads I went down, down, down And they all lead me straight back home to you `Cause I headed West to grow up with the country Across those prairies with those waves of grain And I saw my devil, and I saw my deep blue sea And I thought about a calico bonnet from Cheyenne to Tennessee We flew straight across that river bridge, last night half past two Switchman wave his lantern goodbye and good day as we went rolling through Billboards and truck stops pass by the grievous angel And now I know just what I have to do And the man on the radio won't leave me alone He wants to take my money for something that I've never been shown And I saw my devil, and I saw my deep blue sea And I thought about a calico bonnet from Cheyenne to Tennessee The news I could bring I met up with the king On his head an amphetamine crown He talked about unbuckling that old bible belt And lighted out for some desert town Out with the truckers and the kickers and the cowboy angels And a good saloon in every single town Oh but I remembered something you once told me And I'll be damned if it did not come true Twenty thousand roads I went down, down, down And they all lead me straight back home to you Twenty thousand roads I went down, down, down And they all lead me straight back home to you

Why does the sun go on shining Why does the sea rush to shore Don't they know it's the end of the world 'Cause you don't love me anymore Why do the birds go on singing Why do the stars glow above Don't they know it's the end of the world It ended when I lost your love I wake up in the morning and I wonder Why everything's the same as it was I can't understand, no I can't understand How life goes on the way it does Why does my heart go on beating Why do these eyes of mine cry Don't they know it's the end of the world It ended when you said goodbye Why does my heart go on beating Why do these eyes of mine cry Don't they know it's the end of the world It ended when you said goodbye

It seems we stood and talked like this before We looked at each other in the same way then But I can't remember where or when The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore The smile you are smiling you were smiling then But I can't remember where or when Some things that happen for the first time Seem to be happening again And so it seems that we have met before And laughed before And loved before But who knows where or when?

She was a level headed dancer on the road to alcohol And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal Well she pressed her chest against me About the time the juke box broke Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck And these are the words she spoke Blow up your T.V. throw away your paper Go to the country, build you a home Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches Try an find Jesus on your own Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin me what to do Blow up your T.V. throw away your paper Go to the country, build you a home Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches Try an find Jesus on your own Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place When just as I was leavin, well she looked me in the face I said You must know the answer, She said No but I'll give it a try And to this very day we've been livin our way And here is the reason why We blew up our T.V. threw away our paper Went to the country, built us a home Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches They all found Jesus on their own

about

Here we are in another spin around that old sun together. 2016 had some rough spots. We lost a few good people along the way, lost a few tough races.

But there were plenty of good times too, with the people we love. You and you and you. And you, too. This here is our gift to the ones we love - a little album of favorite old songs that we sang just for you.

Here's to a new year that is full of light and love, peace and justice. Happy 2017 to you.
